Queen's is one of Canada's leading universities with an international reputation for scholarship, social purpose, spirit and diversity.
The Department of Marketing and Communications (M&C), a division of Queen's Office of Advancement, is responsible for the top-level web pages of Queen's University. The remaining web pages are created and managed on a decentralized basis, where each faculty, department and service area is responsible for its own site content and technology. Queen's ITServices supports those official Queen's sites as outlined on their Web Services pages.
Official Queen's web pages are those that represent a Queen's department, faculty, unit or program. They provide information about the University and its mission; its programs, services, and events. All official web sites must be linked to and from the Queen's University home page or subsidiary pages.
Other web and electronic communications managed by M&C include Queen's on iTunesU and the Digital Information Network, while ITServices is responsible for e-mail/webmail, QCard, and the MyQueen's portal.
M&C and ITServices also work in partnership on projects such as the Events Calendar and the WebPublish web content management system. The two units recently formed a Web Consulting Group, with the objective of providing an overall vision for Queen's web, and making recommendations for resources and new web initiatives that would have a University-wide impact and move Queen's web forward, making it ever-more accessible and usable to all user groups and audiences.
